Sizzix Blog Hop - "Unexpected Jaguar" Rectangular Box

It’s time for another installment of Eileen Hull’s Sizzix Scoreboards Blog Hop! This week the talented group of designers is focusing on the Rectangular Box. This is a nifty little box – finished, it measures approximately 3 ¾” wide, by 1 ¾” high, by 1 7/8” deep. It’s a great size to tuck a special surprise like candy or a small gift, store rings or other small jewelry on your dresser, or to hide a special message.

Materials:

Assorted fibers

My version is a bit “out there” – as those of you who follow my work know, I absolutely love working with shades of blue and green, and I love unexpected elements in a project. My box is lined with Shannon Fabrics Paisley Cuddle Dark Turquoise material. The sides of the bottom portion are embellished with chipboard altered with Ranger Color Washes and Krylon Webbing Sprays by fellow designer Becky Conley. She used this on her press kits a few years back and I just had to keep it – I knew I’d find a creative use for it! The cover was watercolor washed inside and out with US ArtQuest pearlescent watercolors. The amazing Jaguar image from Earth Art International was stamped onto acetate using Staz-On Jet Black ink, then colored in unexpected colors with fine point Sharpee markers. The cover is held in place with star shape brads, and an additional star shaped holds decorative fibers. The stamped Jaguar image is held in place on the cover with silver foil tape, and the four corners of the bottom portion are edged with silver foil tape. The bottom edges of the box are embellished with Dew Drops from The Robin’s Nest. A bit of self-adhesive Velcro holds the box shut.
